Meet Dr. Jacob Shelley

Patient Philosophy

Dr. Jacob Shelley is a Board-Certified Orthodontist who loves creating beautiful, confident smiles and treats every patient the way he treats his own family. He is thrilled to be serving the wonderful people of his home state in New Mexico.

Early Life & Background

Dr. Shelley was raised in Southwest New Mexico (Silver City), where he spent many years working on his grandfather’s cattle ranch near the Gila National Forest. He was captain of his soccer and tennis teams when he met his highschool sweetheart and future wife, Trisha. Actively involved in the scouting program, Dr. Shelley attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Education

After high school, he earned a Bachelor of Science and graduated cum laude.

In 2015, Dr. Shelley was accepted to the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, renowned for its clinical excellence and public health focus. During his training, he practiced dentistry in community health clinics and earned a certificate in public health in addition to a DMD Degree.

He then completed his orthodontic residency at Saint Louis University where he graduated as valedictorian. While there, he earned a master’s degree and published research on Invisalign clear aligners.

Memberships & Affiliations

Dr. Shelley is a Board-Certified Orthodontist via the American Board of Orthodontics. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon (the national dental honor society).

Outside the Office

Dr. Shelley’s favorite pastime is hiking and biking with his wife and two children (Colbie, 10, and Wes, 5). He is actively engaged with his community and has served in multiple youth mentorship programs and as a partner for the American Red Cross.

Dr. Shelley enjoys sports (soccer, tennis, and pickleball), birdwatching, dad jokes, New Mexico sunsets, and tasty salsa.
